Is it safe to give online?
Yes. In many ways, giving online is safer than writing a check, because an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. At Christ UMC, we use PushPay to administer our program. Pushpay is a respected mobile commerce company that specializes in churches and other non-profit organizations, and is publicly traded on NASDAQ. Their systems allow you to make donations online and access your contributions records.

Your information managed securely by Pushpay, and is encrypted using secure socket layer (SSL) technology. Your information will remain private and will never be given away to third parties, other than to process your scheduled contributions. Please help us keep your information safe by protecting your login information. Access to sensitive personal and financial information can be gained by letting someone else use your account or by leaving the information for someone else to see. Christ UMC does not have access to your login information and will never call you to ask for your that information.

What are the different ways I can give using the Online Giving program?
There is lots of flexibility using PushPay:

  • You can give using your computer, tablet or phone.
  • You can give on the web site, the mobile web site, or using the Pushpay app.
  • You can give from your MasterCard or Visa debit or credit cards, or via ACH bank draft from your bank or credit union.
  • You can make a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift.

If I want to set-up a recurring gift, what are my options for frequency of my gift?
For recurring gifts, you have the option of giving daily, weekly, month, or annually. Recurring gifts are an excellent way to keep on track with your planned giving, and to keep up even when you’re on vacation or homebound.

Do I have to have a Pushpay account to give online?
No, you can give a one-time gift without an account by just entering the required information.  However, an account comes with several advantages. It makes the giving process even quicker, you can give the next time without having to re-enter all your information, and you can view your online giving history whenever you log in.

How do I get started?
To get started, take any one of the following steps:

Are there any fees involved with giving online?
Not to you. You will not pay any fees with an online gift. Christ UMC is charged a percentage of your gift, so you may want to write a check if the amount is significant; approximate card processing fee is 1-2%, depending on type of card.

Should I use my credit card to support the church?
Your payment method is an individual decision, but we strongly discourage anyone from going into debt to support the church. If you feel called to give more and don’t have the money in your budget, examine ways to earn additional money or reduce your expenses. And if you have difficulty with credit card discipline, stick with debit card or ACH bank draft.

Can I change my personal information or the amount or the frequency of my gift once I have set it up?
Yes. You can change or cancel your contribution at any time before the date of your next contribution. Simply log in to the system using your user name and password and make the necessary changes in the system. If you change your personal information on your Pushpay account, please let the church office know as well so we can change it on our internal systems.

Can I review my donation history online?
Yes, just sign in to your Pushpay account to view your online giving history. Your Pushpay account history will only show donations made through Pushpay.

Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. The church will continue to send contribution statements to your address on file for tax purposes. Your statements will include donations made via Pushpay as well as donations made by other means (e.g. personal check).

Can I designate my gift to a particular ministry or fund?
Yes, but not via Pushpay. Our online giving program is designed to route all contributions to FORWARD at this time, since FORWARD is the primary financial and stewardship emphasis of Christ UMC. FORWARD contributions are fed into both the General Fund (which funds the ministries and operations of the church) and the 7 Year Fund (which pays down the principal on the debt). The amount going to each is specified by the Budget and the 7YP Payment Schedule and is managed by the Finance Committee. 

Those who wish to make designated gifts to established funds (e.g. Lifegate, Missions, Memorials) can continue to do so as they have in the past, by check or cash, but we respectfully suggest that all such gifts are over and above your regular giving.

How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?
Immediately after submitting your contribution, you will receive an e-mail verifying your contribution.

Does it matter which Internet browser I use?
No. Any browser will work.

How do I make changes or cancel contributions online?
Provided that you are logged into your Pushpay account you can schedule new contributions at any time, and can modify or cancel those contributions at any time prior to the date they are scheduled. Once the contribution has been processed, however, it cannot be cancelled.
